The short version: Your closet and outfit history stay on your device. Apple handles weather, location services, and payments. You control optional permissions and can delete local data in the app.
1. Who we are and what this covers
JTR Labs LLC (“WearCast,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides the WearCast iOS and iPadOS app and this website. This policy explains how information is handled when you browse this site, use the app and its widgets, or use WearCast Plus. It distinguishes information processed on your device from information handled by us or service providers.
WearCast does not require a developer account. The app does not include advertising, advertising identifiers, third-party analytics SDKs, cross-app tracking, or a developer-operated cloud service for your wardrobe.
2. Information used by the app
| Information | Use and storage |
|---|---|
| Closet and garments | Clothing types, quantities, names, colors, fabric notes, favorites, and chosen photos are stored locally to organize your clothes and inform outfits. |
| Preferences and feedback | Temperature units, comfort and style choices, optional comfort reports, appearance, activities, and notification settings are stored locally to personalize the app. |
| Plans and history | Saved outfits, activity presets, weekly plans, wear logs, and laundry status are stored locally for planning and rotation. |
| Locations and forecasts | Saved city names, coordinates, and time zones are stored locally. Coordinates are used with Apple services to get the forecast. Recent weather is cached locally for offline display. |
| Subscription status | Apple’s StoreKit provides verified purchase and entitlement information so the app can enable Plus and restore access. We do not receive payment card details. |
Outfit recommendations and comfort adjustments run on your device. Closet photos, garment details, plans, and comfort feedback are not included in forecast requests or sent to an AI recognition service.
3. Location, city search, and weather
You can search for a city without granting device-location permission. City search and place resolution use Apple’s mapping and geocoding services. Search text and location information needed to complete those requests are handled by Apple.
If you choose your current location and grant permission, WearCast requests location while the app is in use, targeting an accuracy of approximately three kilometers. The accuracy actually provided depends on iOS and your permission settings. The app does not require continuous background location tracking.
The coordinates of your selected location are sent to Apple WeatherKit to retrieve weather. Apple may process request and device information under its own policies. You can change permission in iOS Settings, use approximate location, or choose a city instead. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
4. Photos and your content
WearCast uses the system photo picker. You decide which images to import; the app does not request access to your entire photo library. Imported images are resized and re-encoded without the original photo’s location metadata. Visible details within the image itself remain visible.
Photos are stored locally with the corresponding closet entry or garment. They are not uploaded for clothing recognition, used to train models, or shared with the weather widget. Removing an imported image or deleting its entry removes the app’s copy; this does not remove the original from your Photos library.
If you explicitly export or share information through the system share sheet, your chosen recipient or service receives what you share under its own terms. WearCast’s garment, plan, and history export contains text data, not the photo files.
5. Widgets and notifications
The app and its widgets share a local forecast and preferences through an Apple App Group. This is local sharing between WearCast components, not a public feed.
With your permission, WearCast schedules local notifications using the latest forecast loaded when you open the app, for the following 24 hours. Notifications may show your selected city, weather, and clothing guidance on the lock screen. You can adjust notification previews and permissions in iOS Settings and disable individual reminder types in WearCast.
6. Live Activities and system surfaces
If you start an outing, WearCast sends its city, activity type, forecast, clothing layer, and planned end time to iOS to display on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island on supported devices. People who can see those surfaces may see this information. Your garment photos, private garment names, and payment information are not included. Compatible system features may also surface the activity on your other Apple devices according to your settings.
WearCast updates this activity locally when the app refreshes. It does not use a Live Activity push server or collect push tokens. End the activity using its End control or the app, or manage Live Activities in iOS Settings. Deleting all local data also ends active outings.
7. Apple purchases
Apple processes subscriptions, billing, renewals, cancellation, and refund requests through your Apple Account. WearCast uses verified StoreKit information, such as the purchased product and whether access is active, to provide Plus. We do not operate a payment form or receive your full card number, banking credentials, or Apple Account password.
Apple may retain purchase records independently. Deleting local WearCast data does not delete Apple’s transaction records or cancel a subscription. See the subscription terms.
8. Website and support information
This website’s own code does not add advertising pixels, analytics scripts, nonessential cookies, contact forms, or newsletter tracking. Fonts and app screenshots are served with the site. The app screenshots are product previews, not a live feed of a visitor’s weather.
The WearCast pages on jtrlabs.com are hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes technical request information, such as IP address, requested URL, browser information, and security or error logs, to deliver and protect the site. Its security features may use cookies or browser checks to prevent abuse. These hosting activities are separate from the iOS app’s local data storage.
If you contact us using a published support channel, we receive the contact information and message you choose to provide, including any attachments. We use that information to respond, investigate issues, and maintain necessary support records. Do not send passwords, payment card details, or sensitive photos. Provider practices are described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
10. Retention, backups, and security
Local personalization remains until you change or delete it, delete app data, or remove the app’s stored data from the device. Forecast cache entries are accepted for offline use for up to six hours; that freshness limit is not a promise that every old file is automatically erased at six hours. “Delete all local data” also clears the app’s weather cache and widget forecast.
WearCast does not provide its own cloud synchronization. Your device’s backup settings may include app data in an iCloud or computer backup. Apple or your backup system controls those copies. Deleting data on the device does not necessarily remove an existing backup.
We retain support records only as reasonably needed to address the request, maintain necessary business records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. Hosting providers manage their own operational logs under their policies and settings. We do not promise a specific log-deletion interval that we cannot control.
WearCast relies on iOS storage protections and system permission controls. No device or online service is completely secure. Protect your device and backups, keep software updated, and take care when exporting information. We cannot remotely recover a closet that exists only on a lost or erased device.
11. Your choices and privacy rights
- Edit or remove content: manage closet entries, photos, garments, plans, and logs within the app.
- Delete personalization: WearCast Settings removes closet data, garment photos, plans, wear history, saved outfits, activity presets, and comfort feedback, and resets preferences.
- Delete all local data: the Settings control also removes saved locations, clears weather and widget data, cancels scheduled reminders, and restarts onboarding.
- Export: Plus Studio can share garment details, plans, and history as text data. Photos are not part of this export. Existing records remain viewable, exportable, and deletable after Plus expires.
- Control permissions: change location, notification, and lock-screen preview settings in iOS. Optional comfort feedback can be turned off in WearCast.
Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of information we hold, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, appeal a privacy decision, or complain to your local privacy authority. We will handle requests under applicable law without unlawful discrimination. We may need proportionate information to verify a request or an authorized agent’s authority.
We cannot identify, access, or remotely delete a device-only wardrobe. Use the app’s controls for those records. For information we hold, use the contact details below. Where consent is the basis for a use, withdrawing it does not affect earlier lawful processing.
12. International use and legal bases
Weather, purchase, hosting, or support providers may process information in countries other than yours under their own service arrangements. Local closet data is not transferred to our servers. Where applicable data-protection law requires a legal basis, we use information to deliver the service you request, with your permission for optional device access, for legitimate interests such as responding to support and protecting the website, or to comply with legal obligations. Any required safeguards for transfers of information in our control must apply under the relevant law.
13. Children
WearCast is a general-audience weather and wardrobe app, not a service directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through support or this website. Parents and guardians should supervise purchases, permissions, and information a child shares. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it where required.
14. Policy changes
We will update this page and its date when our practices change. If a change materially affects your information, we will provide additional notice through the app or website as appropriate and obtain consent where required. A policy update alone does not authorize a new use of information when the law requires your permission.
