Terms & conditions

The practical terms for using Boxwell, a pretend shopping app, and its website.
The short version: Boxwell is a game that imitates online shopping. Nothing in it is real. No products are sold, no money is charged, and nothing is delivered. Have fun, and don't use it to fool anyone.
1. About these terms
These Terms and Conditions apply to the Boxwell iPhone app and the Boxwell pages at jtrlabs.com/boxwell, provided by JTR Labs LLC ("we," "us" or "our"). By using Boxwell you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
The app is licensed to you through the App Store under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"). These terms add to that agreement. They don't replace it, and where they conflict on the app license, the Standard EULA controls. Mandatory consumer protections in your country always continue to apply.
You must be able to agree to these terms under the law where you live, or use Boxwell with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian.
2. Everything in Boxwell is pretend
Boxwell simulates the experience of shopping online for entertainment. The store, products, prices, sales, countdowns, stock levels, "people looking at this" counts, coupons, checkout, payment confirmations, receipts, order numbers, tracking numbers, couriers, delivery times, delays, delivery photos and unboxings are all simulated inside the app.
Prices and order totals are shown to make the experience feel real. They aren't offers, quotes or invoices, and they don't create any obligation for you or for us.
3. No payments, purchases or deliveries
- No payments. Boxwell never charges you. Every order is charged $0.00 to a built-in "Boxwell Demo Card," which isn't a real payment card. The app has no field for card or bank details and never asks for them.
- No purchases. Placing an order in Boxwell isn't a purchase or a contract to buy anything. Boxwell currently has no in-app purchases. If we ever offer optional paid features, they'll be sold only through Apple's in-app purchase system and described before you buy.
- No deliveries. Nothing is shipped, and no courier will come to your home. Delivery addresses, delivery notes and the map "home" exist only inside the app.
- "Money kept." The money-kept total is the sum of your pretend order totals. It's a fun estimate, not a statement of actual savings.
4. Fictional products, brands and people
All product names, brands, store names, the "Fernway Parcel" courier company, courier names, reviewer names and reviews in Boxwell are invented. They don't describe or endorse any real product, company or person, and any resemblance is coincidental. Reviews and ratings are generated for the game and don't reflect real customer experiences. Product art is illustrative.
5. Entertainment, not advice or treatment
Boxwell is for entertainment. It isn't financial, budgeting, medical or psychological advice, and it isn't a treatment for compulsive buying or any other condition. If spending or shopping is causing you distress or harm, please consider talking with a licensed professional or a nonprofit credit counselor.
6. Maps, notifications and timing
The live map uses Apple Maps to draw a route between made-up points near the city you choose. Routes, map data and directions come from Apple and may be unavailable or inaccurate. If they're unavailable, Boxwell draws a simpler route.
Optional notifications are scheduled on your device and depend on your permissions and iOS settings. They may arrive late or not at all, and they're always labeled "Pretend order." Delivery times are simulated and may include deliberate delays.
7. Your data
Boxwell stores your pretend orders and settings only on your iPhone. We don't operate a cloud sync or recovery service, so we can't restore data that's been deleted from your device. See the Privacy policy for details. Please don't enter real addresses or personal information in free-text fields such as "Deliver to."
8. Acceptable use
You may use Boxwell for your own personal, non-commercial entertainment. You agree not to:
- use screenshots, receipts, order confirmations, tracking details or delivery photos from Boxwell to deceive anyone, for example to claim that a purchase, payment, refund or delivery really happened, or to support a chargeback, insurance claim, return or dispute;
- present Boxwell content as coming from a real store, payment provider or delivery company;
- reverse engineer, copy or redistribute the app, except where the law or the Standard EULA expressly allows it;
- misuse the website, interfere with its security or availability, or introduce malicious software.
You're responsible for how you use anything you share from the app.
9. Intellectual property
The Boxwell name and icon, the app's design, software, text, graphics, generated catalog and the website's materials belong to JTR Labs LLC or its licensors. These terms don't give you ownership of them. You may share personal screenshots of the app for non-commercial purposes, as long as you don't use them to deceive anyone (see section 8). Apple, Apple Maps and other third-party names and marks belong to their respective owners.
10. Apple and third-party services
Apple provides App Store distribution, Apple Maps and notification services under its own terms and policies. Links to other websites are provided for convenience; we don't control those sites. JTR Labs LLC, not Apple, is responsible for Boxwell and its support. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app, except as required by the Standard EULA and applicable law.
11. Updates and availability
We may update Boxwell to add, change or remove features, fix errors, or keep it compatible with iOS. We don't guarantee that the app or website will always be available, error-free or supported on every device. You can stop using Boxwell at any time by deleting it.
12. Warranties and liability
The app's warranty and liability terms are set out in the Standard EULA. To the extent the law allows, the website and the app's simulated content are provided "as is" and "as available," without promises that they'll be uninterrupted, accurate or fit for a particular purpose. Because Boxwell is free and simulates everything, to the extent the law allows, JTR Labs LLC isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for any decision you make based on simulated prices, products or totals.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that can't legally be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or personal injury caused by negligence. Nothing removes a consumer's mandatory rights, remedies or statutory guarantees. Where these terms conflict with those protections, the protections prevail.
13. Questions and disputes
If you have a problem with Boxwell, please contact us first so we can try to fix it. You keep any right to contact a consumer protection authority or bring a claim in a competent court. These additional terms don't create a mandatory arbitration clause or a class-action waiver. Governing law for the app license is set out in the Standard EULA, and these terms don't take away the protections or access to courts you have in your home country.
If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies to the extent the law allows. Not enforcing a provision isn't a waiver of it.
14. Changes to these terms
We'll post any updates here and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also give notice in the app or its release notes where appropriate. Changes apply from the date they're posted and won't take away rights relating to an existing dispute.
