How it works

The whole shopping trip,
minus the bill.

Boxwell copies the parts of online shopping that feel good, from the deal you can't pass up to the knock at the door, and leaves out the part that costs money.

Made to feel real

The details are
the dopamine.

Pretend shopping only works if it feels like the real thing. So Boxwell sweats the small stuff that makes ordering online exciting.

  • Delivery that keeps you checking.Quick arrives in about 30 minutes. Dawn arrives before 7 AM. Standard takes a few days through the carrier network, with hub scans along the way.
  • A courier on a real map.Choose your city and watch your courier move along an actual road route toward a point near home. Boxwell never asks for your real location.
  • A doorstep photo and an unboxing. When it lands, you get a proof-of-delivery photo. Then tap the box three times to open it.
  • Fast-forward when you can't wait.Turn it on in Closet to watch a whole Dawn or Standard delivery in minutes.

Why we made it

Inspired by South Korea's "dopamine shopping" sites.

A trend took off in South Korea: websites that copy the entire online shopping experience, from browsing and reviews to checkout and a courier heading to your home, and simply remove the part where you pay. People described the strange satisfaction of it. It feels like you ordered something, even though nothing is coming.

We loved the idea and wanted it on the phone, where most impulse shopping actually happens. But we also wanted to do it properly. Many of those sites borrow the look of real stores and delivery companies. Boxwell is entirely original, from the name and the carrier to every brand in the catalog. And unlike most of them, in Boxwell the package actually arrives, because opening the box is half the fun.

Most of the pleasure of buying something happens before it arrives: the hunt, the decision, the waiting. Boxwell gives you all of that and lets you keep your money.

Why it matters

A better place to
put the urge.

Online stores are built to make buying effortless: one-tap checkout, saved cards, flash deals, and countdowns. Boxwell keeps the fun and takes the money out of it.

$0.00

A pressure valve for impulse buys

When you're bored, stressed or scrolling late at night, Boxwell gives the urge somewhere to go. Fill a cart, hit Pay and watch it ship, without the regret or the return label.

Kept

See what you didn't spend

Every pretend order adds to your "money kept" total. It's a simple, satisfying way to see how fast "just one more thing" adds up, and what you saved by not buying it.

Wait

Room to cool off

Buying the pretend version first gives you time. If you still want the real thing a week later, great. Often, the feeling passes once the box is "open."

Boxwell is entertainment, not treatment. It isn't a medical, financial or therapeutic tool. If shopping or spending feels out of control, please consider talking with a licensed professional or a nonprofit credit counselor.

Honest by design

Pretend, and always
clear about it.

A fake store should never be mistaken for a real one. Boxwell is built so that it can't be.

  • No real payments. There are no card fields and no in-app purchases. Checkout uses a clearly labeled demo card.
  • "Charged $0.00" on every order. The confirmation and receipt always show it, and checkout says it's pretend.
  • Nothing leaves your iPhone. No account, no analytics, no ads, no trackers. Orders are stored only on your device.
  • Labeled notifications.Optional delivery alerts are local and marked "Pretend order."
  • Original everything. The products, brands, reviews, courier company and couriers are invented.
  • We never contact you about orders.Boxwell never emails, texts or calls about an order. If you get one, it isn't from us.

Questions

Good questions.

Will I ever be charged?

No. Boxwell has no way to charge you. There are no in-app purchases, the app never asks for card or bank details, and every order is charged $0.00 to a built-in demo card.

Will anything actually arrive at my door?

No. Every product, delivery, courier and doorstep photo is pretend and happens only inside the app. Nothing is sold or shipped.

Does Boxwell use my location?

No. You choose a city in Closet, and Boxwell places "home" at a made-up point near it. The courier's route is drawn with Apple Maps between two made-up points. Your real location is never requested.

Do I need an account?

No. There's no sign-up and no login. Everything is saved on your iPhone, and you can erase it any time in Closet.

How long does a delivery take?

Quick takes about 30 minutes, Dawn arrives before 7 AM, and Standard takes 2 to 4 days. Turn on "Fast-forward deliveries" in Closet to watch Dawn and Standard orders arrive in minutes.

Are the reviews and products real?

No. All products, brands, reviewers and reviews are invented for the game. Any resemblance to real products or people is coincidental.

Is Boxwell suitable for kids?

Boxwell is rated 4+. It has no purchases, ads, chat or web browsing. It does show prices, sales and countdowns like a real store, so parents may want to talk with younger kids about what's pretend.

Can I use it to stop overspending?

Many people find pretend shopping a satisfying substitute for impulse buys, and the "money kept" total helps you see the difference. But Boxwell is entertainment, not a treatment or financial service.

Go on. Treat yourself.

Boxwell is coming soon to the App Store for iPhone. It's free, with no ads and no purchases.
