Privacy policy
Last updated: October 8, 2026
Boxwell is a pretend shopping app. We designed it so that it doesn't need to know anything about you, and it doesn't collect anything.
The short version: Boxwell has no accounts, analytics, advertising, tracking or servers. We don't collect, receive, sell or share personal information from the app. Your pretend orders, closet and settings are stored only on your iPhone, and you can erase them at any time.
1. Who we are and what this covers
Boxwell is made by JTR Labs LLC ("we," "us" or "our"). This policy explains how the Boxwell iPhone app and the Boxwell pages at jtrlabs.com/boxwell handle information. It applies alongside Apple's own privacy policy for the App Store and Apple services.
2. What we collect
Nothing. The app doesn't include analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or attribution software, and it doesn't send any information to us. Boxwell has no sign-up, so we never receive your name, email address, phone number, address, contacts, photos or payment details.
In App Store Connect, Boxwell's privacy label is "Data Not Collected."
3. What stays on your iPhone
To work, Boxwell saves a small amount of information locally on your device:
| Information | Why it's saved |
|---|---|
| Your pretend cart, orders, tracking history and closet | So your orders keep "arriving" and your unboxed items stay in your closet. |
| Your "money kept" total | To show how much you didn't spend. |
| Settings: the "Deliver to" name, map area, notifications and fast-forward toggles, and whether you've seen the welcome screen | To remember your choices. |
| A small random offset for your map "home" | So "home" sits near, not exactly on, the city center you picked. |
The "Deliver to" field is free text. It's only used inside the app, so a nickname like "Home" works fine. Please don't type a real address or other personal details there. This information never leaves your device except through your own device backups (for example, iCloud Backup), which Apple controls under your settings.
4. Payments
Boxwell has no real payments and no in-app purchases. Checkout uses a built-in "Boxwell Demo Card" and every order is charged $0.00. The app never asks for card numbers, bank details, Apple Account passwords or any other payment information, and it has no field to enter them.
5. Maps and location
Boxwell doesn't request access to your location. You pick a city from a list, and the app places "home" at a made-up point near it.
To draw the courier's route, Boxwell uses Apple's MapKit to request driving directions between two made-up points near that city, and to show map tiles. Apple processes these requests under the Apple Privacy Policy. The requests don't include your real location or anything that identifies you to us. If directions aren't available, for example when you're offline, Boxwell draws a simple route itself.
6. Notifications
Delivery notifications are optional and off by default. If you turn them on, iOS asks for your permission. The notifications are scheduled locally on your iPhone and are never sent from a server. Each one is labeled "Pretend order." You can turn them off in Boxwell's Closet tab or in iOS Settings.
7. Apple and the App Store
Apple distributes Boxwell through the App Store. Apple may collect information about downloads, purchases from the App Store generally, and device diagnostics under its own policies. If you choose to share app analytics or crash data with developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated, non-identifying statistics, such as install counts or crash reports. We use these only to understand how the app is doing and to fix problems.
8. This website and support email
The Boxwell pages' own code doesn't add advertising pixels, analytics scripts, contact forms or nonessential cookies. They're hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request information, such as IP addresses and browser details, to deliver the pages and protect against abuse, as described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to reply and to keep a record of the support conversation. Please don't send passwords or payment details.
10. Retention, deletion and security
- In the app: your data stays on your iPhone until you delete it. Go to Closet, then Erase all orders, to remove all orders, your closet, your cart and the money-kept total. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.
- Support emails: kept only as long as needed to help you and maintain reasonable records. You can ask us to delete them.
- Security: on-device data is protected by your iPhone's built-in security, such as your passcode and data protection. We can't see or recover data that only exists on your device.
11. Your choices and privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or under California and other US state privacy laws), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or move your personal information, to object to or restrict its use, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Since the app collects nothing, in practice these rights apply to any support emails you send us. To make a request, email [email protected]. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
12. International users
JTR Labs LLC is based in the United States. If you email us from elsewhere, your message will be processed in the United States. Where the GDPR applies, we process support emails on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering you.
13. Children
Boxwell is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. It doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. If you believe a child has emailed us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
14. Scam awareness
Fake order emails and texts are a common scam. Boxwell never emails, texts or calls you about an order, never sends invoices, and never asks you to pay, call a number or sign in. If you get a message claiming to be about a Boxwell order outside the app, it isn't from us. Please don't respond to it.
15. Changes to this policy
If we change how Boxwell handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, for example if the app ever starts collecting any data, we'll also explain it in the app's release notes before it takes effect and update the App Store privacy label.
