Know the ground you stand on.

You read the label on everything you eat. Groundwell is the label for the land — live soil moisture, UV, air quality, and geomagnetic readings for the parks, trails, and shorelines near you, plus a simple timer for your barefoot time outside.

For people who read labels

You already pay attention. We just point it at the ground.

If you check ingredients, time your sun, filter your water, and know where your food was grown — you'll feel at home here. Groundwell reads public environmental data the way you read a label: openly, skeptically, and in plain language.

Soil-aware

Live soil moisture for your exact area, refreshed with the weather. See whether the ground under that park is dust-dry or holding last night's rain — before you take your shoes off.

Sun-conscious

The live UV index sits right on your home screen, with a plain-language explainer. Know when the sun is gentle and when it's strong, and plan your time outside around it.

Air-aware

US Air Quality Index and the planetary Kp geomagnetic index, sourced from public agencies and explained without jargon. No mystery numbers — tap any metric to see what it means.

What it does

A field guide, a timer, and a map — not a feed.

Real places, not pins from nowhere

Parks, trails, beaches, riverbanks, lakes, and peaks near you — drawn from OpenStreetMap, the same community-built map data that powers half the outdoors internet.

A dependable barefoot timer

Start a session, put your phone away. Groundwell logs where you grounded, what surface you stood on, and the conditions at the time — every session counts, even five minutes.

Five-layer map

Flip between grounding spots, soil conductivity, moisture, geomagnetic, and geology layers. Your best-scoring nearby spot is highlighted the moment the map loads.

Earth Connectivity Points

A progression system that rewards time on living ground. Wet grass beats dry pavement; an ocean shoreline beats both. The formula is public — see the table below.

Embossed metal achievements

Bronze, silver, gold, and platinum medals for exploring new terrains and keeping streaks alive. Earned by going outside, not by watching ads.

Your Area Grounding Score

One headline number estimating how favorable nearby ground is for electrical contact right now, computed from live weather and soil moisture. It changes when the weather does.

Open formulas

Twenty minutes is not always twenty minutes.

Earth Connectivity Points scale with the surface you stood on, how moist it was, how much skin touched ground, and the conditions around you. Same clock, very different ground:

Scenario — 20 minutes, barefootEarns about
Dry dirt on a summer afternoon120 ECP
Wet grass after morning rain420 ECP
Ocean shoreline, feet in the wash650 ECP

ECP measures engagement with the outdoors — it is a game, not a biometric. The full formula and every factor in it are documented in the app's built-in explainer.

Our data philosophy

No black boxes. Every number has a source you can visit.

Everything Groundwell shows you comes from public, inspectable sources — the same feeds scientists and forecasters use. Tap any metric in the app and it tells you what the number means and where it came from.

What Groundwell is — and isn't

Groundwell provides environmental and geological information for educational purposes. The scores it shows describe the conditions of the ground and air around you, estimated from public soil, weather, and geological data — they are not measurements of your body. Groundwell is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and makes no health claims. Consult a qualified healthcare provider for any health concern. We think the outdoors is worth your time on its own merits.
