1. Overview and scope
The short version: BinBuddy has no account system, advertising, tracking SDK, remote analytics, or app backend. Property details, schedules, household members, history, notes, and Buddy progress are stored locally on your device and are not collected by JTR Labs LLC.
This Privacy Policy applies to the BinBuddy mobile application, its widgets, and the BinBuddy website operated by JTR Labs LLC (“JTR Labs,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). It does not replace the privacy terms of Apple, Google, your device manufacturer, or any destination you choose when exporting or sharing a file.
2. Information stored by the app
BinBuddy may store information you choose to enter, including:
- property nicknames and optional street addresses;
- collection services, recurrence rules, dates, estimated pickup times, and reminders;
- household member names and task responsibilities;
- task actions, history, status, notes, snoozes, missed or skipped markers, and holiday adjustments;
- appearance, accessibility, widget, time-zone, and notification preferences; and
- Buddy Points, levels, achievements, outfits, themes, and other progress derived from local task history.
This information is maintained in the app’s local database. We do not receive it, build a profile from it, sell it, or use it for advertising.
3. Notifications, widgets, calendar, and sharing
Local notifications
When you enable reminders, BinBuddy provides the operating system with the minimum information needed to schedule local alerts, such as trigger time and reminder text. Focus modes, battery settings, notification permissions, and operating-system policy control delivery.
Widgets
Supported iPhone widgets receive a local snapshot of the selected property’s next collection. Widget actions open BinBuddy and are processed using the same local, idempotent task system.
Calendar and sharing
ICS export does not require calendar access. BinBuddy requests calendar permission only if you deliberately choose to add an event through the device calendar interface. The operating system and the destination app process user-initiated sharing.
4. BinBuddy Plus purchases
If you open the Plus screen, purchase the lifetime unlock, or restore a purchase, BinBuddy uses Apple StoreKit or Google Play Billing to request product and ownership information. Apple or Google processes payment under its own privacy policy.
BinBuddy locally stores the entitlement status, platform, transaction identifier, purchase and check dates, and—on Android—a one-way hash of the purchase token. BinBuddy does not operate a receipt server and does not transmit this purchase record to a JTR Labs backend. Platform ownership does not automatically transfer between iOS and Android.
5. Backups and exported files
JSON backups are intentionally human-readable and unencrypted. They may contain addresses, household names, schedules, history, and notes. Paid entitlement records and purchase-token hashes are excluded. ICS exports may contain collection dates and property labels.
After you export, save, or share a file, the selected destination and its privacy practices control that copy. Review the destination carefully and protect exported files as you would any household record.
6. Retention, deletion, and reset
Local information remains on your device until you edit or delete it, clear history, delete a property, reset BinBuddy, uninstall the app, or the operating system removes it. Deleting a property removes its related local schedules, occurrences, reminders, assignments, actions, and history. Reset removes app content and scheduled BinBuddy notifications; a platform purchase may remain restorable from the platform store.
Device backups and uninstall behavior are controlled by your operating system and backup provider. Because we do not receive your schedule data, we cannot retrieve or delete a copy from a BinBuddy server.
7. Security
Local-first design reduces transmission risk, but no device or storage system is perfectly secure. Protect your device with a passcode, install security updates, restrict access to exported backups, and avoid sharing files with destinations you do not trust. BinBuddy backups are not encrypted by the app.
8. Children’s privacy
BinBuddy is a general-audience household utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Household member labels are entered and controlled locally by the device owner and are not transmitted to us.
9. Your choices and privacy rights
You can review, correct, export, and delete local BinBuddy content within the app. You can disable reminders, badges, calendar access, Buddy progress, celebrations, or other permissions through BinBuddy and system settings. Rights concerning App Store or Google Play transaction data should be exercised with the applicable platform provider.
Depending on where you live, privacy law may provide additional rights. Because BinBuddy does not collect the local data described above, we generally have no server-side copy to access, correct, sell, or delete.
10. Policy changes
We may update this policy when BinBuddy’s functionality, legal obligations, or platform integrations change. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date and, when appropriate, an in-app notice. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies to future use.
