Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Gloam is a native macOS blue-light filter published by JTR Labs. You can reach us at [email protected] or through our website at jtrlabs.com. This policy describes how Gloam handles information.

2. Information we do not collect

Gloam does not require an account. We do not collect:

• Your name, email, or any contact details
• Your location
• Any analytics about how you use the app
• Any data about your screen contents, applications, files, or activity

3. Information processed on your device

Gloam stores your preferences locally on your Mac — color temperature, brightness offset, schedule, hotkeys, and last-used profile. This data is written to the standard macOS user defaults (NSUserDefaults) for the app's bundle identifier and is never transmitted anywhere.

If you uninstall Gloam, these preferences are removed by macOS.

4. Permissions Gloam requests

• Display gamma adjustment — Gloam uses macOS's public ColorSync APIs to apply its filter. This is the same mechanism Night Shift uses. No special permission prompt is shown.
• Login items (optional) — if you enable "Launch at login," macOS asks for your permission to add Gloam to your login items. This is handled by the system; we never see your credentials.
• Notifications (optional) — if you opt into sunset reminders, macOS asks for notification permission. Notifications are scheduled locally and never use a push server.

5. Purchases

Gloam Pro is sold directly through the Mac App Store. All transactions are processed by Apple. JTR Labs receives an anonymous transaction record so we can deliver the upgrade — we never see your payment method or billing address. See Apple's Privacy Policy for how they handle payment data.

6. Service providers

The only third party involved in distributing Gloam is Apple, through the Mac App Store. JTR Labs does not run any analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or telemetry services on top of Gloam.

7. Children's privacy

Gloam is not directed at children under 13. Because we collect no personal information from any user, we do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR / CCPA)

Because Gloam does not collect or process personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, delete, or transfer. If you have a question about this, email [email protected].

9. Changes to this policy

If we change how Gloam handles information, we'll post the updated policy here with a revised "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated in-app or in a release note.
